Since we moved here 8 years ago, JEM and I have been looking for the "Burger Place" or "Daly Burger".
When you live in Winnipeg, it is easy to find an amazing burger joint. There are many, many, many good ones. In fact there seem to be at least a couple in every neighbourhood.
They are not fancy places. Most barely have places to sit and eat. But the food, oh the food. They have the best burgers. The patties, the buns, the fries are all incredible and the gravy, well the gravy is delicious.
I don't want to call them greasy spoons because that doesn't do them justice.
We have yet to find the right "Winnipeg" burger place here. Until today. Most places were too fancy, too trendy. Fast food places don't count.
We found the place tonight. It met all our criteria:
1. In the neighbourhood (because you can't travel too far to get take out burgers or they get cold).
2. The burgers have to be substantial but not fancy. They have to taste amazing.
3. The fries are cut from potatoes that still have the skin. They are deep fried golden brown and are preferably served in a paper box.
4. They have to offer gravy on the side.
Hintonburger has done it. You rock Hintonburger. You met and surpassed our needs. Thank you for being there when we needed you. You are the one!
I would say that most restaurants are better in Winnipeg. To my shock.
