Here they are all geared up and ready to go.
I help coach the team and so far have only hit one kid in the face with the ball. It happened to be one of my very good friend's daughter. The child happens to be one of Hops & Barley's best friends.
She was very, very brave about the whole thing and had a very nice black eye. She told me that I was only a quarter responsible for the incident. She said the blame was split between her, me and the ball. They are only in Grade 1 and haven't learned about fractions yet so I will gladly take a quarter responsibly instead of a third.
At school the next week her teacher (also Hops & Barley's teacher) asked what had happened. She told her. The teacher asked whether a little kid or a grown up had thrown the ball. She told her that Hops & Barley's mom did it.
I am also coaching Hops & Barley's soccer team this year. The skies opened up on us on Wednesday night. This picture does not do justice to the amount of rain falling from the sky. The kids just kept on playing. The are amazing.
The girls are literally sopping wet. You could squeeze water out of their pony tails.
