Maxman got an assignment sent home yesterday.
We have to do it over the holidays (got some issues with this).
It's a photography assignment that is very detailed and involves having pictures developed and getting an album (also some issues with this, but I'm dealing with it).
At the end of the assignment it says, "Did you check the Rubric?"
What the criminey is a Rubric? I have also discovered that I don't like saying this word, it's awkward.
The title of the next page says "Photography Assignment Rubric". Okay, but I still don't know what RUBRIC means.
So, I googled it. I know now what it is. Perhaps if I was an educator I would know this term.
The question is, do you know what a rubric is?
Google just taught me what a rubric is... seriously??!?
ReplyDeleteNot sure I am looking forward to the school years.
I've heard the word but have to google it... and yeah... seriously???
ReplyDeleteYes, and only because Emily has had it on a few assignments

I didn't know - had to look it up too. Did Max know? Interesting...
ReplyDeleteHi Darcy, I use rubrics every day, being a high school teacher. We are encouraged to grade everything on rubrics -- Max should have had one sent home, so you would know what he is being marked on. However, that's all besides the main point: what's with all the work on the holidays??
ReplyDeleteI have worked hard and spent a lot of time avoiding my studies to get good at solving the Rubric Cube. I have since moved on to progressively harder Rubric Cubes to challenge myself further. Don't worry too much about not knowing what one is, now you do and you can set about solving the Rubric Cube as well. You and Max can participate together.

homework given out over the holidays deserves a big fat lump of coal in the head...

I know what a rubrik is now that we have a grade three-er in the house. Ours has to do a book talk over the holidays, and I'm not impressed either. They are still so little for all of this.
