Big, Huge, Garage For Sale Cheap

We have two garages. One is a nice normal single car garage with a remote door opener and everything.

The other is enormous. It is huge and the big door has never worked. Part of the huge garage is pictured below behind our car.

It is about 15 feet wide, 45 feet long and is taller than most average garages by quite a bit.

I have recently decided that we are never going to fully utilize this space and would rather have a bigger yard. JEM is fine with this. All the neighbours are MORE than fine with this, and are actually encouraging the process.

So, I have started calling around to get quotes to tear it down. We can also do this ourselves, but wanted to know what we're looking at.

The first company came out. Really nice guy, chatty, then said we're looking at between 3 and 4 THOUSAND DOLLARS to take it down. Ummm, yeah right.

The next company came out and said they would do it for $1200. Okay a little better.

Then I asked the gentleman across the street about it. He said to take the siding off, load it in his pick-up and take it to the scrap yard (no dumping costs) and someone would probably be more than happy to take the studs of our hands.

Hmmmm...this sounded like a better idea.

Then I found a posting on the USED website saying that someone just outside the city is looking for building materials and are willing to tear down old barns and garages if they can keep the supplies - FOR FREE.

I don't know FREE vs. $4000. Which would you choose? And...did the first guy think I wasn't going to be calling around to get other free estimates? Come on.
