Hops & Barley Tells It Like It Is

We were having the most wonderful Christmas Day. We opened gifts, we played, we ate, we had the little girl down the street over for a big play.

At one point I was reading them a story and Hops & Barley decided that climbing over her friend and I to the other side of the couch was okay. I think I told her not to and she says to me (okay this isn't verbatim b/c I was too upset to remember all of it):

"It's hard having you for a mom."

That's when my heart broke.

"It's just very tricky," she added.

I tried very hard not to cry in front of the neighbour kid. Not sure what she meant by this, aside from the obvious. I just thought that I had longer before they turned on me and am now terribly outnumbered should they all decide to turn at the same time.

  1. aw.....they don't mean it, i'm sure of it!! But perhaps we are all quite tricky as moms!

    The other morning, Chris and i went into Elliots room in the morning because he wanted to get out of his crib...i had gone in first...elliot saw chris, pushed me aside and pointed to chris....sigh....
