He's a Little Man Now - And I Cried

Max didn't take a soother until he was almost a year old. When he did finally accept it he took to it like candy coating on a smartie.

He only used it at nap time or bed time, but at those times he really, really needed it.

A couple of months ago I thought I would try and start weaning him off of it. We talked about it and during nap time he was fine without it. Then came bed time that night. He was hysterical!!! It was the saddest thing I'd ever seen. He was looking all over his room for it calling "Winston, Winston." (We named it Winston a long time ago).

So we put off the soother weaning until he got all his teeth and after we'd gotten home from Christmas holidays.

I hadn't broached the subject in the least and last night as I was snuggling him to sleep, I handed Winston to him and he gently tucked him back in the crook of my elbow. He hasn't asked for him or about him since.

I left him asleep and went and cried. He is brave, smart and the best little 2.5-year-old in the world.

I love this cool little dude.

  1. This, I think, is the sweetest little story about my nephew that I've ever heard, and I have heard many. He's amazing!
