Dutch and I surfed to this site today:
http://www.collectionscanada.ca/genealogy/index-e.html
and found his grandfather's (my great-grandfather's) recruitment papers from WWI.
It was so wild to see my great-grandfather's handwriting (his writing reminded me of Dutch's) and read about who he was, what he did, where he lived, where he was born, etc... and that was just one page!
We also found records for other family members. It is very interesting and I've discovered that you could lose hours doing this kind of research.
We are also looking in to getting the military records for Dutch's parents, who both participated in WWII. Unfortunately, these records aren't available online yet - you have to order them.
History is amazing and interesting and very real when you can see the things we did today.
